The Eumundi Writers Festival was lucky to have a great bunch of volunteers in 2025 and many are staying on. We welcome kind-hearted and capable volunteers including writers, readers and those just interested in the literary world to join us as a volunteer. Places are limited. We will train you up for your role and provide free opportunities to attend a range of events as volunteers. Volunteers are protected by our insurance's and Volunteer Agreements. Volunteer roles include the following.

Pre-festival Volunteering

• Director : festival branding, partnership development, sponsorships, program development lead, Management Team building and coordination
• Marketing Creative Director : website, social media, print media, radio, TV, signage and collateral materials
• Event Planning Creative Directors : Various roles including panels, In Conversation interviews, workshops, signature events, festival highlight event
• Professional Development Stream Creative Director : mentoring, pitching and showcasing
• Short Story Award Creative Director : designing the award guidelines and documentation, receiving applications, connecting applications with judges, managing the judging process, overseeing festival applicant readings and award announcement
• Volunteer Creative Director : recruiting volunteers, finalising roles, training volunteers
• Festival Evaluation Creative Director : Evaluation Team Management, Evaluation Design, Evaluation Implementation (before and during festival) and Festival Evaluation Report preparation post-festival

During Festival Volunteering

All volunteers will need to attend training and orientation meetings either in person or online. Please find attached the standard Volunteer Agreement outlining the responsibilities of both volunteers and the festival.
At the festival itself we have these hands-on roles. Volunteers will have free access to the events they are working on, some free ticket and other opportunities that may develop as the festival planning continues.

• Festival Communication Coordinators - constantly available communication point for all Management Team members and volunteers
• Event Hosts - introducing events and presenters, acknowledging sponsors, OH&S issues etc
• Festival Ambassadors - providing directions to festival attendees at strategic locations
• Information Desk - Last minute ticket sales, program distribution
• Event Ushers - Attendees access management and alerts
• Evaluators - recording attendee data e.g. numbers, demographics, audience engagement
• Event Roadies - Signage installation, Bump-in and Bump-out including audio visual equipment support (set-up, testing, pack-away)
• Event Logistics Volunteers - Catering set-up and serving, driving and deliveries (people or materials), Green Room Management, post-event wrap-up checks, OH&S management including incident reporting
